Home

You will be warmly welcomed at The Old Rectory which is situated on a quiet street just a short stroll from the centre of Salisbury and with easy access to most local attractions.

Nestled into a pretty walled garden The Old Rectory has well appointed rooms and helpful friendly staff. All rooms are equipped with TV's radio/alarms, beverage trays, hairdryers, are centrally heated and have either en-suite or private facilities. The garden and patio are available for the guests use, special diets are catered for and it is a no smoking B&B. The house still projects a feeling of its time as a happy family environment as well as a quiet, peaceful place of goodwill - the perfect place for a quiet comfortable stay.

The Old Rectory was built in 1919, immediately following the First World War. For 30 years, it was home to the Annetts, one of Salisbury's leading families, who still own Watson's Gift Store in Queen Street. The house was originally known as "Fairstowe.

In the 1950's the house was purchased by the church to serve as the earthly home of the rector of nearby St. Edmund's Church. As "The Rectory", it was first home to the Reverend Herbert Geoffrey Goodall, and later to Reverend John Henry Rumens. The tower of St. Edmund's can still be seen from our windows, although it is now the vibrant and popular Salisbury Arts Centre. In recent years, the house has become a family home again under the nameplate of The Old Rectory, and is now owned by Trish Smith and her family, who have converted it into the Bed and Breakfast facility that it is today.
