Unlike a Bed and Breakfast, Self Catering means that you are being provided with accommodation that has facilities to allow you to cook and cater for yourselves whilst on holiday.
No meals are provided by Self Catering establishments or the property owners during your stay but they will have given you all you need to cater and clean for yourselves.
It is worth checking what is include in the letting as some Self Catering properties may not include bed linen or towels, some Self Catering properties may not allow pets etc.
It is also worth finding out what shops, restaurants and pubs are available nearby. Self Catering is a good alternative to Bed and Breakfast if you are planning to stay for a week or more and can be a lot less expensive that a Bed and Breakfast alternative.
The AA and the tourist boards have now agreed a common standard for awarding star ratings to Self Catering properties.
